Rochdale-My Town

Rochdale Parish Church can be reached by climbing over a hundred steps near the town hall, until you reach the top of 'Sparrow Hill' and it is here that you will find 'St Chad's (the Parish Church!)

Another view of our impressive looking Parish church. The slabs that can be seen on the pavement are actually gravestones, and some date back many hundreds of years. There is supposed to have been a church here since the 12th Century, although I imagine that the present church looks nothing like the original one.

This is a statue of John Bright which is situated in Broadfield Park in the town centre. Born in 1811 he was at the front of all of the political issues of the times, and he died in 1889 without much mourning from Rochdalians. This was because he was definately not seen as a champion of the working class
