All of the colour photographs on this website were taken by me and are therefore not to be used without my permission. However if you ask nicely I'll send you a high res version of the requested photo. Just e-mail: cg01706@gmail.com. The black & white photos were taken from an excellent book called 'Images of Rochdale.' If you would like to link to my website use the same e-mail address. The top left photo is our town hall, whilst the one on the right is Rochdale from Blackstone Edge. Rochdale AFC: As of the match at Brentford on the 28th August '10 Rochdale are in 12th place with five points. They got their first win in league One at Brentford by a score of 3-1, and had midfield player Jason Kennedy sent off. A good start for the Dale though, and I'll be having a bet on them winning at Southampton on the 4th September. This site will be about the Lancashire town of Rochdale. I have lived here all of my life, Click here to read a bit about me, and through this website will show you some of the interesting places in this former cotton town. To see some photograph's showing Rochdale as it used to be click here. If you want to see some photos of Rochdale and its surrounding area, have a click here. What has Rochdale got going for it? We have a great looking town hall, beauty spots such as Hollingworth lake and Watergrove reservoir and we have access to some great countryside, including Rochdale canal, on our doorstep. We also have a football and rugby club which are both due some success! Surely promotion beckons for the football club in 2010 although its getting harder every season. Rochdale was the birthplace of Gracie Fields, Cyril Smith, Anna Friel and many more famous people. Rochdale has some of the worst traffic systems in the civilised world. Our council loves replacing roundabouts with traffic lights and making dual carriageways into single lanes. Rochdale has had a very icy and snowy winter in 2010 but as of towards the end of March it is at last getting warmer. There are various photos on this site of parts of Rochdale under snow, and although it looked nice, the fact that our superb (lol) council didn't grit most of the areas made it very dangerous. Our road didn't get gritted once the whole winter. Nevermind as they have still put our 'council tax' up! Good news on the football front is that Rochdale AFC are now 11 points clear at the top of league 2 after a great win at neighbours Accrington Stanley. More Dale photos on the relevant page! I am still keeping some winter photos on here so if you would like to see some photo's of the Xmas lights just click here.
The above photo's were taken on the 22nd Dec '09. The one on the left is St Johns church near the train station, and the other one is the Town hall with the Post office opposite.
