Rochdale have at last, deservedly been promoted to the 1st division of the football league. The 2nd division will no longer be known as the Rochdale division (it needs a new name) and they will now play in a higher league. They got promoted after beating Northampton one nil at Spotland on the 17th April 2010, with the goal being scored by Chris O'Grady in front of just over 5000 fans.
